Have you worked in the construction industry?

If you have worked in the construction industry, then much of what this team do will be familiar to you.  So, that may give you an edge over other applicants. 

That said, if you are organised, systematic and like to know where things are at – and if you have done the duties listed below in a different industry, then your skills may transfer across with just an initial learning curve.

 

An outline of the role 

The person who gets this role will effectively be the wind beneath the wings of the rest of the team. 

You will do many of the important things that keep the office running smoothly – and so much more. 

Among your responsibilities will be the following: 

  • Manage AR, AP and GL coding

  • GST and other statutory returns

  • Payroll – weekly wages

  • Input new client details

  • Maintain record of contracts

  • Create folders and Site Specific Safety Plans (SSSP) for new contracts

  • Health & safety record keeping

  • Keep tabs on training required by the team and liaise with them and the company’s service providers to get employees booked in – e.g. Site Safe and First Aid

  • And MORE!

 

Part-time hours 

This is a part-time role – 4 days per week – but understanding that at month-end, you may work slightly longer hours.

Ordinary hours as follows:

  • Around 24-hours to 28-hours per week

  • Monday to Thursday

 

Pay 

Pay will be negotiated in keeping with your experience. 

For instance, past similar work experience or a background in the construction industry could head it towards the upper end of the range. 

  • $28.00 to $30.00 per hour

The company uses the following: 

  • Xero

  • Smartly for payroll

  • Builda Price

  • MS Excel

If you have done a similar role before – where you were supporting the entire team with your admin prowess, that would be fantastic! 

Some knowledge of the construction industry may be an advantage. 

Add to that: 

  • MS Excel (intermediate)

  • Strong general computer literacy

  • Competence in both AP & AR

  • Sound general accounts skills

  • Self-driven

  • Friendly with a good sense of humour

  • Great time management skills – coupled with the agility to flex and change direction when the team’s priorities change, and to provide timely support across the team

  • Legally entitled to work indefinitely in New Zealand now

  • Work visa, permanent residence or citizenship that permits you to work 24 to 28 hours per week (i.e. Student Visa or Visitor Visa is not sufficient)
