A full position description will be made available to applicants at interview. However, the scope of the role is broadly as follows.
To ensure the success of the Programmes and Apprenticeships unit.
Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer (COO), this pivotal role provides leadership to the programmes and apprenticeships team, being also entrusted to plan and oversee all programmes’ Micro Credentials, and apprenticeship initiatives.
You will help to shape the strategic business direction and growth of the organisation – including by identifying new products and business opportunities.
Key Outcomes
Strong relationships with key stakeholders including industry associations and representatives, employers and learners. Also, the ability to engage with key educational partners, including WDCs and other providers.
Leadership of pastoral care for learners via management of the national Training Advisor network.
Understanding the requirements of the industries you are supporting, and ensuring that they have appropriately skilled workers.
A commitment to quality will be evident as you ensure that VHNZ meets TEC, NZQA and industry requirements, including in compliance with Codes of Practice and TEC funding conditions.
Location
Although many of the team are based in Tauranga, for the right person, this role could be situated in Auckland, Hamilton or Wellington.
The ideal candidate
Strong operational management and exceptional people skills will be critical attributes of the person appointed to this position.
Additionally, to be effective in this role it will be imperative that you have:
A tertiary qualification in business or management (or equivalent experience)
Extensive experience in tertiary and/or vocational education
Deep industry knowledge, e.g. familiarity with industry trends, challenges and opportunities
Strategic thinking – utilised to develop and implement strategies that align with the company’s goals
Strong financial acumen
Additionally, your leadership approach will inspire a diverse team and help each to continue in their professional growth.
